They had Mars, the god of war, Neptune, the god of the sea, Bacchus, the god of wine, and many more. Like all cultures, they also had a rich and vibrant mythological background. When it comes to the main twelve, or fourteen, gods of the Greek pantheon, the names of their Roman equivalents are almost as famous; and of course Apollo is known by the same name in each pantheon.

The genealogy of the Roman deities is basically the same as those of the Greek deities, except that many of their names have changed to Roman or Latin names.
